Abstract

Development of Consumer Price Index / Inflation in SiPada In October 2019 Singaraja City recorded a deflation as deep as -0.14 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2012 = 100) of 145.02. The calendar year inflation rate was 1.93 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2019 against October 2018 or YoY) was as high as 2.89 percent.


Deflation (m to m) is indicated by a decrease in the index in the two expenditure groups namely group I (food stuff) as deep as -1.23 percent and group VI (education, recreation, and sports) as deep as -0.17 percent. While the groups that recorded an increase in index or inflation were group V (health) as high as 2.98 percent; group II (processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco) as high as 0.20 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity and fuel) as high as 0.17 percent; group IV (clothing) as high as 0.15 percent; and group VII (transport, communication and financial services) as high as 0.06 percent.


Commodities recorded contributing or contributing to deflation in October 2019 include cayenne pepper, squid, beans, water spinach, oranges, instant dry noodles, onions, broiler eggs, papaya, color television, salt, vegetable tomatoes and cell phones .


From 82 CPI cities, 39 cities experienced deflation and 43 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Balikpapan City (East Kalimantan) as deep as -0.69 percent while the shallow deflation was recorded in Palopo City (South Sulawesi) as deep as -0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Manado City (North Sulawesi) as high as 1.22 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Pematang Siantar City (North Sumatra), Tual City (Maluku) and Ternate City (North Maluku) each as high as 0.01 percent. If ranked from the deepest deflation, Singaraja ranks 18th out of 39 cities experiencing deflation. October 2019
