In January 2022, Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 1.09 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 106.32 in December 2021 to 107.48 in January 2022. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) is the same as the inflation rate in January 2022, which is 1.09 percent. Year-on-year inflation (January 2022 against January 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 2.34 percent.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, nine expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely: group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 1.88 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 1.62 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 1.46 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 1.24 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 1.22 percent, group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.91 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.87 percent; group IX (education) as high as 0.75 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.55 percent. Meanwhile, two other expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely: group VII (information, communication, and financial services) of 0.23 percent; and group VI (transportation) as deep as 0.14 percent.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 85 cities experienced inflation and 5 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Sibolga City (North Sumatra) as high as 1.53 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Manokwari City (West Papua) as high as 0.02 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City ranks 13th out of 85 cities experiencing inflation.
