In July 2022, Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.96 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 110.69 in June 2022 to 111.75 in July 2022. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year ( year to date/ytd) and year-on-year inflation rates (July 2022 to July 2021 or year on year/YoY) were recorded as high as 5.11 percent and 6.72 percent, respectively.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, seven expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) of 2.17 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) by 1.89 percent; group IX (education) by 1.86 percent; group VI (transportation) by 1.78 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) by 0.79 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) by 0.59 percent; and group V (health) by 0.13 percent. Three other expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) of -2.76 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) by -0.54 percent; and group XI (personal care and other services) by -0.42 percent. Meanwhile Group VII (information, communication, and financial services) recorded no change in index or was stagnant.
Of the 90 cities observed for National inflation, all of them experienced inflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Kendari City (Southeast Sulawesi) at 2.27 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Pemantang Siantar (North Sumatra) and Tanjung (South Kalimantan) at 0.04 percent respectively. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City with 0.96 percent inflation ranks 25th out of 90 cities experiencing inflation.
