Abstract
In June 2020 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.08 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) from 104.32 in May 2020 to 104.40 in June 2020. Meanwhile, the current year's inflation rate June 2020 and year-on-year inflation rates (June 2020 against June 2019 or YoY) were recorded as high as 0.72 percent and 2.14 percent, respectively.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, five expenditure groups recorded inflation: group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 1.91 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.44 percent; group IV (household equipment, tools and routine maintenance) as high as 0.33 percent; group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as high as 0.06 percent; and group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, three expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as deep as -0.29 percent; group VI (transportation) as deep as -0.19 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel) as deep as -0.04 percent. Three expenditure groups recorded no change in index or stagnant, namely group V (health); group IX (education); and group X (food and beverage / restaurant supply).
Commodities recorded contributing to or contributing to inflation in June 2020 include broiler chicken, gold jewelery, inter-city transportation rates, tempeh, toothpaste, raw tofu, disposable baby diapers, detergent soap, deodorant, and ground coffee.
From 90 CPI cities, 76 cities experienced inflation and 14 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Kendari City (Southeast Sulawesi) as high as 1.33 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Makassar City (South Sulawesi) as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Ternate City (North Maluku) as deep as -0.34 percent while the shallow deflation was recorded in Padangsidimpuan City (North Sumatra) as deep as -0.02 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, then Denpasar ranks 67th out of 76 cities experiencing inflation.
