Abstract

In September 2020, Singaraja City experienced inflation as high as 0.27 percent with the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) of 104.90. The inflation rate for the year September 2020 was recorded as high as 1.23 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2020 against September 2019 or YoY) was recorded as high as 1.91 percent.


Four expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) as high as 4.26 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.92 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.39 percent; and group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, one expenditure group recorded deflation, namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) as deep as -0.33 percent. Six other expenditure groups recorded that the index did not change or were stagnant, namely group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel), group V (health), group VI (transportation), group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) , group IX (education) and group X (providing food and beverages / restaurants).


Commodities recorded as contributing to inflation in September 2020 include canang sari, gold jewelry, pork, packaged liquid milk, oranges, red chilies, bananas, wafers, and spinach.


Of the 90 CPI cities, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli as high as 1.00 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in two cities namely Pekanbaru and Pontianak with each as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Timika as deep as -0.83 percent while the lowest deflation was recorded in three cities, namely Bukittinggi, Jember, and Singkawang each at -0.01 percent. If sorted from highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 5th out of 34 cities experiencing inflation.
