Abstract

In February 2023 Singaraja City recorded inflation as high as 0.29 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 115.18. The February 2023 calendar year inflation rate was as high as 1.24 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2023 against February 2022 or YoY) was recorded as high as 6.15 percent.

Five expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel) as high as 1.83 percent; group I (food, drink and tobacco) as high as 0.89 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.15 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.15 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.14 percent. One group experienced deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) as deep as 4.54 percent. Meanwhile, five other expenditure groups did not experience changes in index or stagnate, namely group V (health); group VII (information, communication and financial services); group VIII (recreation, sports and culture); group IX (education); and group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants).

Of the 90 CPI cities, 63 cities experienced inflation and 27 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in the City of Ternate (North Maluku) as high as 1.85 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in the City of Denpasar (Bali) as high as 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli City (North Sumatra) as deep as 0.98 percent while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Sumenep City (East Java) as deep as 0.02 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 25th out of 63 cities experiencing inflation.
