Abstract

In September 2023, Singaraja City was recorded as experiencing deflation of 0.05 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 116.63. The September 2023 calendar year inflation rate is as high as 2.51 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2023 to September 2022 or YoY) was recorded as high as 3.03 percent.

Two expenditure groups were recorded as experiencing deflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) at 0.33 percent; and group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) at 0.12 percent. Meanwhile, there were six expenditure groups that were recorded as experiencing inflation (m to m), namely group VI (transportation) as high as 0.36 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.35 percent; group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.19 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel) as high as 0.03 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.01 percent; and group V (health) was as high as 0.01 percent, and the other group was stagnant, namely group VIII (recreation, sports and culture); group IX (education); and group X (food and drink/restaurant provision).

Of the 90 cities monitored for national inflation, on a month-to-month (mtm) basis, 17 cities were recorded as experiencing deflation and 73 cities were recorded as experiencing inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Manokwari City (West Papua) at 1.70 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Denpasar City (Bali) at 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan City (Bangka Belitung Islands) at 1.41 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Balikpapan City (East Kalimantan), namely 0.02 percent. If ranked from deepest deflation, then Singaraja ranks 16th out of 17 cities experiencing deflation.
